Walk in the Park

On Sunday we were in Cheesman Park with Wake Up Denver and Eyes of Compassion sangha members. We enjoyed a mindful walk, followed by a delicious vegan chocolate cake prepared by Dana, which we ate in celebration of Buddha’s birthday in the gazebo while it rained. Happy birthday, Buddha!

New Dharma Teacher: David Hughes

Wonderful news. One of our own Eyes of Compassion sangha members, David Hughes (Chân Lac Ðô, True Land of Happiness), is now a dharma teacher. He received the lamp transmission on Sunday, October 3, at the Deer Park Monastery in Escondido, California. Many of us were able to watch this event via Zoom. David is on the left in the above photo, with his two attendants behind him. Three more photographs are below. Thanks, Inyeong, for sending us the screen shots.

Congratulations, David! Continue reading “New Dharma Teacher: David Hughes”

“Happiness is the Way” comes to Fort Collins and Denver!

(UPDATED August 11) This summer, three brothers from Deer Park Monastery will travel 4500 miles to visit Sanghas in ten western states, in the “Happiness is the Way: Road Retreat.” Two of their stops will be in Colorado: a three-day retreat in Fort Collins on August 20-22 (Friday to Sunday), and a single evening in Denver on Monday, August 23.

Both events are free, though if you are able to do so, donations are welcomed. However, you MUST REGISTER for the Ft. Collins event by Friday, August 13, at noon MDT in order to attend (it is almost “sold out” already). You MUST REGISTER for the Denver event by August 18.  You also MUST BE VACCINATED to attend either event and must wear a mask. Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Because of response to this event, we cannot guarantee that everyone who registers will be able to attend. Continue reading ““Happiness is the Way” comes to Fort Collins and Denver!”
